In an attempt to eat local last weekend, we couldn’t resist the urge to go hit up our favorite “downtown” Needham spot – The Farmhouse. Located at the corner of Great Plain Ave and Dedham Ave, The Farmhouse is decked out in vintage wooden doors, wooden window frames, vintage lighting, canning jars, gingham shirted waitresses and waiters, and an open kitchen layout.

When you visit you immediately realize the love and passion that has gone into building this establishment. Its run well, it feels like its been open for a decade or 2, when in fact its only been 2 years and the food and drink… its like none other around here.

With Boston a close drive, and the Street in Chestnut hill an even shorter drive… the food options in Metro West are endless. Meaning, The Farmhouse has a ton of competition. How do you compete? Excellent service, consistently great food and drink, awesome decor and a bit of luck. Perhaps the greatest proof you have made it is when another local joint straight creeps on you and admits that it stole the color scheme, decor and general vibe for their own spot (cough cough cough…. we are looking at you Heritage of Sherborn)

So go to The Farmhouse for cozy date night, expect candles in mason jars, great service, cool “farmhouse” inspired decor and food you can eat every day all day…. Since its a farm to table deal, the menu changes seasonally. We enjoyed the short-rib papparelle pasta and the Halibut.

We are super lucky to call The Farmhouse our local spot…. and want all to know that its worth the trip either from Boston the burbs, or from the surrounding area. Come enjoy a cocktail and a great meal. We will be back… tonight maybe?!
Cheers.
Enjoy.
